Subject: RE: Disgusting close in Corn

Anderson County Kansas
That's one of the things the guys that live in "prime" corn growing areas don't realize. Land cost is way lower, and basis levels are way better in lots of fringe areas. Speaking for my operation, My 10 year aph is 125, I can make 100 bucks an acre with 4 dollar corn. That's assuming 80 bucks an acre rent which is average for the area. I own all my ground, but still figure average cash rent in productions cost. We also don't need as much seed, or fertilizer. We also have no drying cost it all dries down in the field. We do have the years we completely burn up, and most years we are stressed my hot and dry. I don't think everyone is cut out to farm areas like ours, but to say the cornbelt is the only place to grow profitable corn is false.
