Subject: Planting into sod with a Caseih planter

E Central NE
I have a Caseih 1255 planter that I am trying to plant corn into grass with, but cannot get seed furrow to close. Sprayed it about a 10 days, so it is still fairly green. Discs cut a nice furrow and seed is placed right at 2 inches, but covering discs do basically nothing. Tried increasing spring pressure on covering discs, but it did not help. Tried serrated covering discs on 1 row. Turned discs in to be more aggressive, with maximum spring pressure. That helped, but still only closed about 25% of the time. Anybody have any suggestions? TIA.
