all over Iowa | I would be in the frustrated camp and not a hater so we continue to hedge on the board. Normally, such unpredictability and volatility creates opportunity as much as it does create frustration. We are in a longer term downtrend that has always been a difficult time to place hedges. The volatility creates a lot of noise on the chart but the trend is still there. So we try to be patient for opportunities and we have sell orders in place to catch rallies.
Your other option is to do a packer contract with a fixed price instead of just fixing basis. It seems to me these always had too much opportunity for the packer to discount the cattle, and they can call them when they want them making it hard to use Optaflex. | |
