Adelaide Hills, South Australia | The bottom of the cow market is the strong cull price, so around AU$900. I have been offered a reasonable herd of Holsteins for $1350 average. That is a complete herd with probably a higher percentage of older cows. There are cheaper cows around as well. Heifers for export are bringing around $1300 unmated. A heifer at point of calving between $1300 and $1600. When we sold our herd 2 years ago we got about 50% better prices
Milk price is about 36.2 Au cents/L or Au $5.00kg/ms.
There has been a big issue here with milk pricing in the last couple of months. Processorso n the export market are in trouble so it will bring the whole lot down. |
