I love Minnesota but...the best thing about the mountains and the Black Hills is no bugs. The bugs in Minnesota are like piranha. You need to be prepared to fight the mosquitos or they'll ruin your camping. I'm sure you know that but we much prefer the mountains, just because of the bugs.
