Ontario's middle east | Around here I only remember 1 year that was an early start that didn't mean a good crop. That was 2001, my worst year of farming. Crop went in nice but then burnt to a crisp. The US crop was generally good however and corn dropped to $2 futures that fall. That is the problem with using weather forecasts for your marketing plan, and it's even worse if us NE guys do it because it won't matter if we grow a half crop. That will strictly be a new crop basis move to bring corn in. You may very well be correct that it is THE year to hold it but you are banking on a weather anomaly. Don and I are just saying, adopting that strategy over time, will cost you money. | |
