Subject: RE: Cows Bunching In Summer

Driftless SW Wisconsin

I saw them bunching recently and it does seem due to flies. I put a couple more of the "flyps" and the cattle rub to try to get more on their faces and have gone ot rewetting the rub with the diesel/permythren (sp?) mix once a week rather than every couple weeks. Seems to make them much more comfortable. Clean areas under shade also helped. I have been dragging the pastures as soon as I can after moving the cattle and it helps keep the flies down.

Reloading the rub across the entrance to the waterer almost immediately stopped the bunching. Here's a picture I posted before of the rub.
