frederick, MD | All the data I see does not show a direct correlation between production and profit. The correlation is there but is not 100 percent. The best dairyman have good cost control. Feed labor and cow turnover seem to be the biggest costs that affect profit.
Now would be a good time to get in. By the time you round up a farm and a herd mil prices will be rebounding so hopefully you could have 2 years of decent prices to build equity before things go south again.
I started dairying right at the end of a low price cycle. I would have never survived 2003 if I had started then. | |
