I recall the military "loosing" numerous pallets of 100 dollar bills over in Iraq. I assume it was money to support the "moderate rebels" or whatever they are called now.
So there seems to be significant other uses for USD currency besides US consumers.
Here in Bonaire, N.A. they converted over to officially using the USD a few years ago. Before they used both the local currency and USD, but phased out their own currency all together. I was a bit surprised they did not go with the Euro, it being a Dutch possession, but I guess maybe they got more USD spent here than Euro's so they went with the USD.
