Subject: South West Iowa

So I drove through SW Iowa this weekend on I 80. Bumpy than all get out. I observed nearly every field sloped to a creek below. The slopes were not steep but they were very long slopes so alot of water would run down the slopes. Nearly every field was no till and there were alot of teraces. So alot of conservation practices were being used. But what struck me was how at the bottom of nearly every slope the farmers were planting right up to the creek or waterway. Some places the planters row units must hang over the water, so if the planter is that close to the water, the fertilizer must get spread that close and the sprayers too.
And then we wonder why Des Moines Water Works is targeting farmers !
