| A very astute observation that the fields sloped to a creek below. I know of a few instances along the Interstate where the limits have been pushed for farming to the edge of a bank but feel it is unwarranted to generalize this for all of Southwest Iowa. As you mentioned SW Iowa is full of terraces and we do practice as much no till as any part of the state. Farmers in this area have readily adapted buffer strips along creeks and rivers often giving up their most productive ground to protect our streams. In general we are good stewards just a few bad apples around. | |
