SW Wisconsin | It is interesting how American companies go to China (and all over the globe) to sell their wares and train them how to raise excellent crops. Globalization has opened new markets for us but also allows
our companies to profit at farmers expense. Pioneer has established two joint seed ventures in China since 2002. Estimate how much increased production they have enabled that negates the need for U.S. grain imports.
I am a capitalist, but it hurts to write big checks each year to firms that are helping my competitors eliminate their need for my produce. In this world of conglomeration, consolidation/monopolies it is becoming difficult to
find alternatives. We are becoming slaves to big AG. I know I don't have the big picture and all details on this but it smells bad sometimes. | |
