We do it every now and then and take things that are close to expiring to the Salvation Army. We cook a bunch at home and are trying new recipes a lot, so we're constantly shuffling the pantry. Nothing really hangs around too long.
If a person goes out to eat quite a bit, I could see a pantry accumulating.
