| Sorry for your loss. I think many farm families are in this situation or will be soon. Did your dad ever tell you what his wishes were for his land? I know my grandfather was pretty clear about what happens with our family land that he purchased. Maybe it's land your father bought or inherited, either way you should think of his intentions. Whoever tells you to sell it is a fool. It's a paid for asset that will always produce for you, some years will be better than others, but it will alway produce. I'd tell your mom it's good marketing to sell some ahead in future growing seasons. Just be consistent. Maybe when you are wondering what to do ask on here. Your first question is getting good answers.
Also if your mom is ever worried about too much tax tell her to invest in the farm (tile, bins, etc...). | |
