Interesting to read your comments on this John. University studies claim that over the lifetime of a producer, both styles of marketing end up about equal. You'll never hear a guy who plays the board admit that though.
Chad I have heard that also , that bad trade on July '08 wheat took away the little gains from many other yrs., try to get at least 50% wheat priced and have more than that for July '16 delivery at flat $6 CAD fob farm....like hogs 2 yrs. ago the guys that were religious about hedging at a profit missed out on $100-150 head profit...point is if you forward contract or sell at harvest or store don't deviate much from what you do each yr. and you will average OK , its those OMG what do I dao now monets that get you in trouble.......and goal always is to be around for 1 more yr. |
