Back in the 80s @ the peak, price of farmland would not gross the int cost per acre. Land prices today are not close to that type of scenario.
Fully understand that you can't plant a crop for free. But the cost of raising a crop had little to do with what land was selling for @ the peak in the 80s. Selling price was based on the expectation that had to buy it now before it went higher. That is not the case @ present, Current land prices are supported by economics, not like the rampant speculation in the early 80s. No way could a person borrow money today to buy farmland, with the type of lending practices that were prevalent in the 70s early 80s time frame.
