The most I credit my manure to give me is 10lbs/1000. So theoretically I will have 170 units in the soil between the manure and compost I have my doubts the compost and manure is all available the first year hence the commercial N I might leave some check strips to see how valuable the compost was. I have a small block of the hairy vetch, if I allow it to grow enough I might not need commercial N, but that beginning said I want to be sure theres enough N for a 230 bushel crop.
