Just guessing but a bean "lot" could vary from a few hundred poinds to millions of pounds. With traceability theses days each field,variety,day of the week, hour of the day, even work shift at the processor , package size, ingredient mix, lot numbers on the ingredients ,could generate a new lot number. The combinations are countless.
