Subject: RE: Rye for grain???

De Forest, WI

We did between 65 and 73BPA, but it is good ground and we fertilized.  Depends on how you plant as well.  We shoot for a minimum of 2 BPA up to a little over 3 BPA when planting very late (end of October or early Nov).  We don't have problems with bad lodging, more like leaning.

If you are growing for grain and want yield you have to somewhat treat it like wheat.  You can plant it and do nothing to it and it will yield 30-40 BPA.  Just depends on what you are trying to do with it.

+1 on the cut for straw.  You won't be disappointed.
