Chances are different CSR in same soil type means lower ratind soil is already eroded, therefore has lower rating before you started. If you can build up slopes with manure and hold soil in the process, slopes will be just as good as flatter soils of same type. May also need self leveling chaffer/combine to get it all in the tank. Don't forget need to tile across slopes on some fields to control seepage issues, really bites to loose your ground cover because sidehill was seeping all summer and killed crop.


I agree and have been living the proof. The 80 I rented from my uncle is flat with a small river running thru it. It was not farmed by me until sometime in the 90's and didn't get manure until then. The CSR on that 80 is quite a bit higher than my 3 to 9% slope ground nearby. I am just starting to see yields from the 80 get close to my home area yields.
You have a real challenge to try to keep erosion from washing away that 9% slope dirt. Good luck.
