Subject: RE: Cotton is South Carolina question

South Eastern VA
I'm farther north, (Virginia) but there are still plenty of guys out there running and trying to get finished. Even after its been picked you'll see a lot of cotton still in the field. The stalks get bush hogged and most guys run a VT machine after broadcasting cereal rye for a cover crop...at least that's what the trend is in the last few years.

Most guys have used no till drills in the past but the broadcast and VT method is much faster. A lot of guys also do this after corn comes of usually in September around these parts. The stalks get mowed off because cotton plants are like little trees, very hard and woody.
