NE Iowa | I am looking at moving up to a JD 17xx planter that is equipped with Seedstar Hydraulic Drive. I am currently running 7000/7200 vintage planters with CompuTrac monitors. The newer planter doesn't come with any monitor or harnessing to the tractor. I don't currently have any Deere precision farming equipment (am running Trimble EZ Steer in the tractor). What am I going to need for providing planter monitoring with this planter? What if I wanted to import my GPS signal to the monitor and do row shutoffs and maybe variable rate sometime in the future? Am I best staying with JD equipment or is there something else out there (Ag Leader, Precision Planting, etc.) that would be a better or more economical choice? | |
