I've not done it but I believe you need a static IP address for the internet. Most ISP's use a DHCP and your IP address is assigned when you login. For instance my IP address on my cable modem is 12.345.678.90 the power goes out or I reset my cable modem, my IP address becomes 12.345.678.15 you no longer have your IP address
