I hear what your saying, but I wonder if the message is flawed. To me it would have been better to test the differences in breakdown with trash mixed into the top area of soil, not buried nearly a foot deep. I wonder to myself why a mulch tillage of any kind with more exposed black soil for faster temp increase in spring would not digest the most? A contradiction? Of course this method has cost and erosion consequences. Also would the strip till test not usually remove thrash over to the sides in how many work?? Why was that thrash test down so deep and 10 cm? These questions lead me wonder on science of the test. OMO.
