My uncle ran 20" rows for four years. More down corn than everyone around him I think is what switched him back. And easier to side dress and strip till. I have a couple others in the area that run 20s and it seems like they have more down corn. Although we had our own fair share last year, especially in spring strip till. So my neighbors may say pot talking about the kettle here....
I would agree with the other comment that maybe population shouldn't be much higher than a 30" row population. But that would vary some by hybrid.
