Thanks for the thoughts, meant to say that a few days ago.

Here on corn/soybean area of the northern corn belt, we plant a corn or bean seed anywhere we can. What's too wet or steep gets cut for cattle or horse hay, including road ditches. We don't leave very many 1/4 acre plots untouched around here it all gets farmed.

CRP probably is a good thing here, taking a bit of the poor ground out. Very little worthwhile land is put in, tho like any govt program there are some deals.... Well. Yea.

Most folk were up on the way this would play out in the 1980s and few got left out that didnt intend to be left out for base acres. As I've mentioned, dad didnt enroll one year and I still carry that. As well alfalfa and hay ground didnt count, so I'm not 100% either......

But here it has worked fairly well. Mostly.

I can see in a more marginal grain region some issues could develop, thanks for explaining that.
