Subject: Opportunity to rent new pasture.....buy expensive cows or not?

Eastern Kansas
Opportunity has arisen to rent some more pasture. Like you all know, doesn't come around very often. Will need to buy 25-30 more cows if I rent it. If I do buy more, I want to stick with fall calvers which I would buy soon and calve out in the next couple months. But, can't hardly find decent fall bred cows right now that aren't a bunch of put-togethers. And they're going to cost a lot too, just as I feel we've passed the high of this cycle. So what does a young guy do? Buy some old toothless put-togethers? Or splurge on some young quality? What do you guys suggest?

Either way, it's gonna be more than I've ever spent on a group of cows. Pasture doesn't come available very often so I don't want to pass it up.
