Eastern Kansas | Opportunity has arisen to rent some more pasture. Like you all know, doesn't come around very often. Will need to buy 25-30 more cows if I rent it. If I do buy more, I want to stick with fall calvers which I would buy soon and calve out in the next couple months. But, can't hardly find decent fall bred cows right now that aren't a bunch of put-togethers. And they're going to cost a lot too, just as I feel we've passed the high of this cycle. So what does a young guy do? Buy some old toothless put-togethers? Or splurge on some young quality? What do you guys suggest?
Either way, it's gonna be more than I've ever spent on a group of cows. Pasture doesn't come available very often so I don't want to pass it up. | |
