If you look at the latest WASDE you see that while there a good deal of wheat produced in the world only (721 MMT) the US still accounts for 25% of the export trade and is still one of the largest exporters. I haven't checked the historical data but I would guess that Europe (the largest exporter) has become increasing competitive in the past few years.
I think you'll find that all it would take to change the price environment for wheat would be a drought in any of the major exporters.
