Subject: We are shifting continuous Wheat acres.. into a rotation

We are shifting continuous wheat acres.. aka Wheat Wheat Wheat

Into a rotation including sorghum of Wheat Sorghum Fallow..

Sorghum acres were up this year.. they had to come from somewhere.. they can either go back to Sorghum Next year.. or Wheat for the 2017 crop

The Fallow part increases wheat yields the following year.. but you do lose out on the acreage.  Net Net total production is reduced.

Sorghum has an auto toxicity to wheat.. some have tried to turn it around.. but.. in addition to the depleted soil moisture.. Sorghum doesn't want to die until freeze up.. it's hard(er) to establish a wheat crop behind sorghum.. vs say Soybeans or Corn.. I don't recall anyone doing it here..  vs we stubble back wheat behind Corn.. every year since I've been back to the farm.

Sorghum acres were up..??  1.5 to 2 myn acres this year.. on top of last year's increase.. a decent amount of sorghum on sorghum acres here.. could Ks have .5 myn?  ???  Maybe...

2 myn acre decline in Ks wheat acreage...?? upper end but possible.. It will be lower.. no doubt.  how much...???
