IMO, there is no one practice that is the "right way" forever. There are different practices that fit different areas 90% of the time but every few years its good to change it up. If a piece of ground gets ripped for 5-10 years, it would be good to pull a plow over it once. If a piece gets plowed for 5-10 years it would be good to rip it once.
Question for those that are moldboard plowing again
