Subject: RE: New Ideal Picker Shellers?

Here in Ontario there are still a few around that sell pretty reasonable. If you could find a New Idea 329 sheller (also called 'supersheller') and you wanted to pick the cobs, the husker can be removed and the sheller installed on the 324 & 325 gathering units. It's not that bad of a job to do.
After the cobs were dried enough, you could run them through the sheller, if you don't mind the extra labour :)

The 'supersheller' seems to do a pretty clean job on crib dried cobs - they rattle through pretty quick if you have a way to feed them fast enough.
There were also shellers made that were 3-point hitch (I think built by Haban?) but they didn't do as clean a job.

BTW - what is a 309 snapper picker? We've had a few New Idea 'pickers' that had 8 or 12 roll husking beds on them to strip the leaves off the cobs; noticed the back of one of the New Idea parts books refered to the snapper picker - does it pick the cobs leaves and all? - just curious......

Good luck & hope you get timely rains.
