Subject: RE: Kochia pastures

Ea. Washington
Kochia is the surviving weed after all others have been killed with RU.
Some smart researchers are just now coming out with the info that Kochia might be RU resistant.! Always has been but did not show up until we killed all the others. RU might kill it when it's I/2 in high. Starane works pretty good before bolting. After that steel is the only way. Every time it rains you get a new flush. Have to keep after it. Good feed if cut early but don't let it make seed or you will scatter it all over. Millions of seeds for every plant and seems they all sprout at different times. Natures ground cover after we controlled Russian Thistle. Loves cultivated fertilized ground. Never saw it until we sprayed all the cheat grass out of the fence rows. Wish we had the cheat back. Cattle like it and grazing it is a good way to control. Never see it in pasture land as they eat it as soon as it grows but don't let up because when it gets big they won't touch it. It can be a real B$$ch.
