IMO, WHERE you farm contributes more to test weight and therefore yield, than anything else. Test weights up here under 40 are not common, and yields under 100 are a failure. I think it is mainly the cooler nights? I honestly do not think there is much you can do to increase your test weights and yields, except move north.
