In my humble opinion, the ability of dead rye to hold moisture needs to be some sort of surgeons general warning! Once it's dead, whether you killed it or it simply matured on its own because it rained every other day and the Canadians smoked your sunlight......you will have excessively wet conditions. Either knock it down and light it with a drip torch or get the chains/cables ready.
