In fall 2012, we precision planted radishes on 30" rows the last week of August and they closed canopy in 2 months.

Joel, that example might not apply most years! ;) In 2012 we had nice warm days clear into November. August first might be a more comparable date most years.
I intend to plant them this weekend. I'm hoping they will close the canopy.
