Subject: RE: marestail - using a long residual herbicide

Tenn Valley
Atrazine isn't effective on marestail any more. An old herbicide being looked at is ametryn - Evik in corn. Long residual with the right attributes. This herbicide is also effective on waterhemp, wheather they are resistant to roundup, ALS, or HPPD. In soybeans, Sencor, Lorox, and Classic are effective as pre's. Already there are marestail that are resistant to ALS herbicides. As our Extension Weed Scientists are telling us, we're going to have to use every tool in the toolbox.
