Subject: RE: Narrow row beans

I've planted about every row width imaginable, from broadcast to 36", currently planting both 15" & 30". Most years theres very little difference yields. Dry years favor 15" & wet years 30". Reason I switche d from 36 to drilled was weed control, before rdup & a lot of chemicals we have now. Will add, best beans I ever raised were in 36" rows & public variety back in mid '70s. Been close a few times since but have never topped them. Have a friend that still raises 36" corn. His crorn is as good as any though I felt I saw a significant yield gain when I went to 30" corn. If you're satisfied with your corn yield I think going to a 36 / 18" planter would be an acceptable way to go.
