Never been able to come up with an accurate figure myself, but I wonder if 3 passes with a disc could be a lot cheaper than that. Probably depends how many acres you cover in a year.
If you own a disk and a paid for depreciated out tractor, it doesn't cost much. Pretty much fuel, time and repairs. $5/acre/pass would go a long ways in that scenario.
If you're paying for new equipment and paying help to run it. $10/acre/pass might not cover it.
Regardless, with that size of a mess tillage is the only "good" option.
