If you have nodules or very few, applying nitrogen will help you get an average yield. I've recommended successfully 60#. It is best if you put it on a few times but it may be late enough that you can't do that.

When you buy your inoculant, only buy inoculant that is fresh. Some are good for two years but I'd only trust sterile peat product in the second year. Sterile liquids are not all that stable and they must be stored in cool conditions to be good the second year.
