Madison Co. Virginia | I've never seen a keyed gate hinge, but the need is definitely there, as we've had many gates get lifted off like that. Folks tell me that the top hinge is supposed to be mounted upside down to prevent this. When I try it, half the time the hinge rotates and dumps the gate off. I've started tying a loose loop of fencing wire around the top and bottom of the gate and gatepost. It's loose enough it never binds during normal operation, but tight enough that a gate can never come completely open on the hinge end.
