The 36" corn would still side dress, but once it starts hitting the top of the hood you're getting iffy. How is your pump driven? Ours is wheel to wheel, but when it gets that tall, we put stops in the lift cylinder to keep the tool bar higher, but let the wheel drive the pump and just surface apply the N. Depending on planter and sprayer line up, you still may have 2 flat rows of corn per pass depending on the hot rod driving the sprayer. The worst you can do is put part of a tank on your applicator and make a round or 2 with the tool bar. If you can cheat the bar up any and still run your pump, I don't thin you're as bad off as you think.
