for the same reasons as why valor or first rate seem to kill the row of corn that I want to take to harvest but only stunts the volunteer in the field... somehow it knows how much you have invested in any particular plant in the field and destroys with a force based on how bad you want it not hurt.

the science behind it is based on murphys law.
