In my humble opinion, satellites can add tremendous value for some farmers. If you are taking over new land and want to vRT, you can substitute historical satellite images for yield history. They do not have resolution as airplanes or drones but I have found too much resolution hides the themes across a farm. I have taken 5 years of historical images and created management zones that were nearly 100 percent correct.

The other benefit of satellites is they can tell you if a farm has enough variation to make vRT worth the effort. Cheap way a farmer can figure out which fields to focus on.

Like I say, imho, satellites are the very best use of imagery because you can see nearly 10 years of history at a number of crop stages.
