| Planted some beans on July 2nd in 2012 following wheat. Only a mile from 30. Very dry that year and didn't get good growth until some mid August better rains. As warm as that year was we got a killing frost on Sept 21, which is about 3 weeks early. Harvested 16 bu to the acre on Halloween. I believe I would have got closer to 30 bushel without the early frost. The bean size was very small. The next killing frost was a month later and without it would have been much better. | |
