Something similar has been done here for years, but with the end result as a winter forage rather than just a cover crop. Using a row crop cultivator for side dressing N guys would use a Valmar and apply some winter annual crop with it. Sometimes in fall not much there after chopping, but the field was always green and lush by spring!
