west central Minnesota | I have several 3.5" (4" O.D.) pipes in the concrete that I have gates hanging on. I use short pieces of 4" (4.5" O.D.) pipe with pieces of flat iron welded to them and bolted or clamped to a gate. If the post is shorter than the height of the gate, a cap welded on the end of the top hinge will keep the gate from sliding down. By using the pipe itself as the hinge you are able to swing the gate farther than if the hinge is fastened to the pipe. | |
