Subject: Population monitoring, is it exactly right?

New Brunswick
New to me this year is Field IQ/Seed monitoring hooked to a JD 1750 planter (chain ground drive w/ finger meters). If I plant with medium corn seeds I get 98% singulation and population about 6% to 8% too high. All rows are about the same. If I plant with small seeds. I get about 90% singulation and population about 17% too high. This looks right to me and seed usage looks right.
So why is the population too high?
Does the seed monitoring module actually count every seed?
If I can trust the seed monitoring, then I will lower my population, but I hate to throw the JD rate charts out the window based on new-to-me technology. Which one do I trust?
