A Core i3 should indeed be good enough for your needs.
Even within Core i3 processors, there are several models to choose from, so I would check the wikipedia page on Broadwell (or Haswell) Intel mobile processors for what kind of graphic controller is built in. It makes a difference for battery autonomy and video quality.
