I'm forty-five years a carpenter. I hate it. adds about 400% to the price of your floor, you can do it in cedar for that kind of money. Scratches easily, very sunny areas can degrade the surface, and you still have a wood frame holding it up. Plus, it just looks fake. Most problems with wood decks arise from substandard treated lumber, there are different grades of it. Buy premium decking from a real lumberyard, not Lowe's, HD, or any of the "homestores". They're just the Walmart of hardware, cheap crap. That said, "Yes dear" might just get you some perks down the road.


Letting my builder use cedar on a porch floor was a huge mistake for me. Sometimes added cost costs less over time. I'd use composite in a heartbeat if I intended to keep the house more than 5 years.
