North shore of Lake Ontario
One would need to take into consideration potentiial new rules about incorporating fertilizer. Last years algae blooms on Lake Erie have gotten the environmentalists into a tither about fertilizer runoff getting into the lakes. In Ontario it is not law yet but is recommended that fertilizer be incorporated. this kind of defeats the purpose of no-till or direct seeding.
The original poster does not say how big his planter is or whether it has dry or liquid capabilities, only that he is putting starter with the seed. Even the old double disco openers can get it in the ground. That's all a friend of mine has on a 12 row. He has been known to drive a block of wood into the pivot mechanism to get it to penetrate. Hit a rock just replace it. Lots of them around.
